It is with deep sorrow that we share the tragic passing of Aiden Keefe of North Berwick, Maine, following a devastating train accident. The loss of such a young life has left the Noble High School community and the greater North Berwick area heartbroken.
The incident occurred Thursday afternoon when an Amtrak Downeaster train struck a pickup truck near Route 4 in North Berwick. The train, which had departed Brunswick shortly after 1 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Boston at 4:15 p.m., came to a sudden stop following the collision. Passengers onboard reported feeling a jarring impact before the train halted, remaining stopped for several hours as emergency crews responded to the scene.
First responders arrived quickly, closing Route 4 and securing the area. A blue tarp was placed near the tracks, shielding the immediate scene as authorities conducted their investigation. The collision disrupted travel and deeply affected those onboard, but most profoundly, it claimed the life of Aiden, whose passing has left family, friends, classmates, and educators in mourning.
Aiden was a cherished member of the Noble High School community, remembered for his kind heart, bright spirit, and the positive energy he brought into every room.
